Newton Nitros Swim team earns first place at championship

The Newton Nitros Swim Club finished its 2018 Long Course season with a first place finish, scoring 239 points - 107.5 points ahead of the second place team in their small teams division.

Lauryn Vogt earned third place in the Women’s 10&Under division with 107 points scored in 7 events. Vogt also reached the podium with two second place individual finishes in the 50M Fly (37.23) and 100M Fly (1:25.33). Garrett Alleven swam his final meet as a Newton Nitro before heading off to St. Cloud State University to swim for the Division I Huskies. Alleven scored 71 points for the Nitros in the Senior division, reaching the podium with a second place finish in the 100M Back (1:03.92). Other Nitros point scorers included Bryanna Bailey (12 pts.), Andrew Guyer (30 pts.), Addison Schroeder (10 pts.), and Annika Senn (9 pts.).
