HALSTEAD—William D. “Bill” Bevan, 85, died Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 20, 1935 at Marion, to Lamoine and Bernice (Kohler) Bevan.
He was a Master Electrician at Newton Electric and Dillons where he retired.
He served four years in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of V.F.W. Post 971, Newton.
He was also a member First United Methodist Church, Halstead and just received his 50-year pin from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
On Dec. 18, 1960 he married Karen Sue Wakeman at Salem United Methodist Church Newton, she preceded him in death March 6, 2021.
Survivors include a daughter: Jeri Young, Tonganoxie; sons: Brad (Kris) Bevan, Burrton; Rod (Joyce) Bevan, Wichita; Tim Bevan, Wichita; Mike (Candi) Bevan, Conway Springs; brother: John Bevan, Newton; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rowlan Bevan; and sister, June Little.
A come and go Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m. Friday April 9, 2021 in Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, Halstead.
Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be at Halstead Cemetery.
