OBITUARY: William Tanner

William E. Tanner died on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018.

William is remembered by many for his charisma, kindness, love and deep compassion. Some of his daughter’s favorite memories are riding bikes, roller blading, building in the shop and swimming with their father.

William was born in Michigan and loved his home state. It was one of his favorite places to be because of the family and the nature. William found the most joy in reading, fishing and tinkering in the garage. He had a deep love for animals and would often rescue strays. For the past decade, those who knew William well knew that his best pal Little Man (an American Pitbull) would travel with him everywhere he would go. William spent his career at AGCO and many years supporting the Union and workers’ rights.

William is survived by his two daughters, Amanda L. Petre and Allison P. Tuttle; his three grandchildren, Ada Burton, Ian Burton and Corbin Petre; and the mother of his two daughters Lisa Tanner. William was preceded in death by his son Jeremy D. Tanner, his father William E. Tanner and his stepfather Jim Willis.

William’s children would like to thank those who supported them and their father through the years.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Newton SDA Church, Second and Walnut streets.
