Obituary: William ‘Jim’ Hockanson

William James “Jim” Hockanson, 66, died Saturday, May 21, 2022, at his residence.

BENTLEY—William James “Jim” Hockanson, 66, died Saturday, May 21, 2022, at his residence.

He was born July 10, 1955, at Grand Rapids, Mich., to William D. and Ellen (Hoyt) Hockanson. 

He was a Bentley resident since 2007, formerly living in Wichita and Ft. Smith, Arkansas. 

A machinist by trade, he most recently worked at Legg Co., Halstead.

He was a member of Bentley United Methodist Church and also attended Pleasant Valley Church.

He loved camping, photography and astronomy, and in his earlier days hang gliding. He was also a skilled auto mechanic.

Survivors include companion and wife of 18 years, Juliet M. Jolly of the home; father, William D. Hockanson, Wichita; brothers, Jon (Robin) Hockanson of Bentley, Charles (Candie) Hockanson of Wichita; and sister Phyllis Gracy of Wichita.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Bentley United Methodist Church.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bentley.

Memorials may be given to Kansas Humane Society in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
