William E. “Bill” Lehrman, 92, died Jan. 2, 2022, at his Newton residence.
He was born March 28, 1929, in Newton, to David S. and Anna (Goosen) Lehrman. On Jan. 4, 1948, he married Barbara Jane Powell at Newton and she preceded him death in 2019.
Bill worked for Boeing Aircraft for 25 years, retiring in 1984. Following his retirement, he went to work for Webco, located at the Newton Airport, where he worked until July 2021. While working at Webco, Bill became an asset to the employees using his years of experience in aircraft and sheet metal.
In addition to keeping busy working, one constant in Bill’s life was his love of reading. In earlier years, he enjoyed radio-controlled airplanes and black powder rifles.
Bill had a love of animals and had many pets through the years. He was currently a “cat dad” to his beloved Dottie and Morris.
He is survived by his son, Michael Lehrman and daughter, Cathy Lehrman both of Newton.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Melvin and sisters Hilda, Pauline and Dorothy.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, at St. Luke Evangelical Church in Newton with Pastor Jeffery Sparks presiding. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
