OBITUARY: Wesley Eilers

Wesley Eilers, 99, of Hesston, passed away Aug. 10, 2021, at Schowalter Villa.

He was born April 3, 1922, in Marion County, the son of Henry and Alvina (Reichert) Eilers.

Wesley was a member of Hesston Mennonite Church. He was a previous member of Friedenstahl Mennonite Church and Central Heights Church in rural Marion County.

Wesley started farming with his dad and later with his wife, Eleanor. He enjoyed harvest and feeding their cows. Wesley and Eleanor loved to help others.

He was united in marriage to Eleanor V. Johnson on Aug. 18, 1946. She preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 1995. Wesley later married Bernice Neufeld on Sept. 19, 1998.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his stepsons, Sidney (Winnie) Neufeld of Wichita and Kenneth (Jane) Neufeld of Cunningham; stepdaughter, Sally (George) Moland; nine step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eleanor; sister, Mabel and a nephew.

Private graveside services were at Peace Valley Cemetery, rural Durham.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hesston Mennonite Church in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, P.O. Box 32, Hesston, Kan., 67062.
