Wesley D. Rhodes, 39, passed away on March 31, 2016,?at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita.
Wesley was born on Jan. 9, 1977, in Atlanta, Ga. He attended Newton schools and graduated from Newton High School in 1995. He was a member of the Newton High wrestling and football teams.
Wesley enjoyed showing hogs, riding horses and showing cattle with his girls. He was a member of the Newton Saddle Club, Flint Hills Wagon Trains or Newton Church of the Brethren. He worked as a farm hand and with Budde Enterprises until surgeries took away his ability to work.
Wesley married Tieyce Saylor on June 10, 2011, in Las Vegas. It was a family affair with both families joining them for the wedding.
Wesley is survived by his wife, Tieyce Rhodes; parents, John and Connie Rhodes; daughters, Madison and Shelby Rhodes; and first wife, Carrie Funk.
A public visitation and viewing was April 6 at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.?A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the Newton Church of the Brethren. An inurnment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery.

Wesley fought a long and difficult battle with diabetes. There were many surgeries, amputations, open-heart surgery and a kidney transplant before he lost the hard-fought battle. He will be remembered for his love for family, friends, his out-going personality and great sense of humor. He was a great witness for the Lord.
