Vada P. Smith, 90, died Dec. 26, 2020, at Via Christi-St. Joseph in Wichita.
She was born Dec. 14, 1930, in southeast Kansas near Peru to Frank and Goldie (Wave) Kocher. On Dec. 30, 1949, she married Edward M. Smith, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2017.
Vada was a loving wife, mother and homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family. She could often be found keeping busy with art, crafts and sewing projects. She especially enjoyed cooking and looked forward to spending time fishing. In her last years, Vada was appreciative of the care and attention of the Via Christi Ridge nursing and activities staff.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Lonnie) Kliewer, and son, Dale (Sandy) Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Oliver Allen Kocher, four grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, David; and sisters, Lola May and Ella Lu.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at New Life Covenant Church in Wichita, with interment in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton.
