Obituary: T.J. Cornejo

T.J. Cornejo, 33, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born March 6, 1983, in Roswell, N.M., to Robert “Bob” Cornejo and Rhonda L. Neuman. His father preceded him in death. T.J. graduated from Newton High School in 2002 and served his country in Iraq in the U.S. Army. He loved to cook and enjoyed using freshly grown herbs and vegetables from his own garden. T.J. was a member of the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ and the American Legion, both in Newton. He was a sports fan and especially loved football. He was an avid OU and Blackhawks fan. He loved his family and looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends. TJ-Pic-Obit

T.J. is survived by his mom Beverly Cornejo of Newton; fiance Ingrid Ringsby of Newton; daughter Isabella of Wichita; brothers Ed Cornejo of Wichita, Eric Cornejo and his partner Alan Arbuckle of Denver, Victor Cornejo of Las Vegas, Carlos Cornejo of Newton, Tyler Cornejo of Newton, Jay Kelley of Levelland, Texas, and Joe Kelley of Granby, Colo.; sisters Marcey Cornejo of Newton, Jenisa Cornejo of Newton, Samantha Schaffer of Cedar Lake, Ind., Katie Cornejo of Kansas City, and Janna and Aaron Madden of Inman.

He was preceded in death by his father and a niece.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in Newton with Minister Buddy Aldridge presiding.

Memorials are suggested to Big Brothers and Big Sisters in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
