OBITUARY: Steven K. Williams

Steven K. Williams, 63, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at Ascension Vis Christi St. Francis in Wichita. He was born Feb. 5, 1958, in Newton, to Robert I. and LaVeta D. Williams.

Steve was a graduate of Newton High School and earned an associate degree at Dodge City Community College. He was a farmer and stockman in the Newton area.

He was an active member of the Grace Community Church in Newton. He served on the hospitality team of the church and was instrumental in the organization of the Newton Community Thanksgiving meal. Steve was a true people person and enjoyed visits and connections with the community.

He is survived by his mother, LaVeta Williams of Newton; son, Neal and his wife Sheila Williams of Newton; niece, Tonya (Tom) Cowan; nephews Ryan (Jay) Williams and Nathan (Jessica) Williams and brother, Neal Williams. There also are six great-nieces and nephews who survive.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Robert Williams.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, at Grace Community Church with Pastors Jack Napier and Kyle Schanbacher presiding. Visitation was from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with the family receiving friends from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Memorial donations are suggested to New Hope Homeless Shelter and may be left with Petersen Funeral Home.
