Sharon Kaye Goering Regehr passed away on February 28, 2022.
Sharon was born to Erma M. (Gaeddert) and Wilbert H. (Toby) Goering on September 5, 1953. She was raised on the farm west of Moundridge, KS with two older siblings (Janice (Goering) Johnson & Larry Goering) and one younger (Barbara Goering).
She attended school in the Moundridge vicinity and graduated from Moundridge High School in 1971. She attended Friends Bible College (Barclay) for a year, spent one year serving in voluntary service in Markham, IL and moved to Greeley, CO for the next two and half years. Sharon attended Eden Menonite Church with her family, and upon her confession of faith was baptized there in her sophomore year of high school. The few years following high school were a turning point for Sharon as she realized she loved composing spiritual songs and singing them publicly as a testimony of her salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Her sister often sang harmony with her for a number of years. Sharon began dating Duane Lee Regehr when she returned to Kansas in 1975 and they were wed on September 18, 1976.
Two children were added to the union, Tamara Kaye and Corey Duane. Both reside in Kansas,
Sharon had a witty sense of humor and was told she was ornery in her younger years. She loved writing, cooking and baking and often shared her goodies with friends and neighbors and family. She continued serving in this way as she could until her failing health prohibited her from doing so.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Duane Regehr of Hesston, KS; children Corey Regehr and his wife Abby of North Newton, and Tamara Issel of Hesston, KS; her sisters Janice Johnson and her husband Merlyn of Greeley, CO, and Barb Goering and her husband Joe Smucker of Newton, KS; sister-in-laws Carol Goering of Hutchinson, KS and Aileen Amador of Hutchinson, KS and nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Erma and Wilbert (Toby) Goering, stepmother Erma Goering, granddaughter Sierra Issel, brother Larry Goering, and nephew Kerry Johnson.
Visitation will be four o’clock to six o’clock, Thursday, March 10, at Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church. Memorial Service will be eleven o’clock, Friday, March 11 at Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church and meal to follow.
Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Hospice and World Vision International. The family of Sharon Regehr wishes to extend a sincere thanks to friends and family as well as Good Shepherd Hospice and the many caring nurses that cared for Sharon and her family throughout.
