NEWTON—Shari McCoy, 50, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at her residence. She was born July 21, 1970, in Iowa City, Iowa.
She worked as a paralegal for the Harvey County Attorney’s office. She also previously worked for the 911 system.
On Dec. 9, 1995, she married Brett McCoy in Tipton, Iowa, and he survives of the home. Shari is also survived by two daughters, Erin McCoy and Morgan “Zero” McCoy, and one sister, Shawna Kerr. Her mother, Susan Lyon, also survives.
Shari enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading. She was known for her outgoing personality and ability to easily make friends. Shari was a true “people person.” She enjoyed music and especially enjoyed the music of Seether, Foo Fighters and Ratt. Shari looked forward to traveling with her family; Chicago and New Orleans were favorite places to visit.
Private family services are planned. Cards and memorials for the family may be left with Petersen Funeral Home, 215 North Main in Newton.
