MOUNDRIDGE—Rose M. Wedel, 84, died April 25, 2022 at Pine Village, Moundridge, Kansas.

She was born July 14, 1937, at Montezuma, Kansas to Peter T. and Lena (Boehs) Koehn.

She was a retired cook for Halstead schools and was also a homemaker.

She was a member of Grace Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church, Halstead.

On June 1, 1958 she married Melvin D. Wedel at Montezuma; he survives of Moundridge.

Rose and Melvin started their life together in Newton and Burns, Kansas before moving to and residing in Halstead for 56 years prior to their recent move to Moundridge.

She touched many lives in the community with her positions working in the local grocery stores and being a long time cook at the school. Pie baking, making cinnamon rolls and cooking for her children and grandchildren especially brought her joy. Even late in her life her face would light up and a smile would appear around the holidays when she got to cook for her family, all the while knowing it would take several days to recover. She really enjoyed working in her garden tending to her namesakes. She will be greatly missed by many.
