Roger Owen Heaston, 73, of Newton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Schowalter Vila in Hesston.
Roger was born March 5, 1945, to Claude Owens and Audrey Margaret (Eames) Heaston.
Roger graduated from Newton High School and then entered the U.S. Army. He served from 1963 to 1967 during the Korean War. After the Army, Roger went to work for the Department of Corrections in Hutchinson. He enjoyed collecting guns and belt buckles in his down time. Roger also loved to bowl and actually scored a perfect 300 one time.
He is survived by his brother William Heaston and wife Becky of Newton and two nieces Monica Lester, husband Chad; children, Melissa Deal, husband Brad and children all of Colorado; and long-time friend Harley Hanke of Newton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with family present from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cremation has been requested, and no services are being held.
