Robert L. “Bob” Whitney, 92, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Newton Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Wichita to Curtis and Velma (McConnell) Whitney. On Nov. 6, 1949, he married Lois J. Geis at Wichita, Kansas and she preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2003. Robert served his country in the United States Navy and was a retired purchasing buyer for aircraft companies.
He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton.
Bob is survived by his daughter Jana and her husband James Putnam of Hutchinson. He has two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday April 23, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Ronan presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton.
Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Baptist Church or Good Shepherd Hospice in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
