WICHITA – Reine L. Grattan, 95, died Friday, March 15, 2019, at Wichita Presbyterian Manor.
She was born July 17, 1923 at Marseille, France, to Henri’ and Gabrielle (Manson) Lescoutre.
On Aug. 27, 1945, she married William J. Grattan at St. Chamas, France, and he preceded her in death Oct. 6, 1984. As a war bride, she wholeheartedly embraced America and was proud to be an American.
She raised chickens, sheep, calves and hogs on the family farm as well as being a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead.
She is survived by a son, William (Judy) Grattan, Valley Center, daughters, Anne Uhler, Kearney, Neb., and Michelle (Vernon) Roemer, Gem; brother:=, Henri’; sisters, Juliette, and Louisette; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanine.
The Rosary will be said 10 a.m., with the Mass following at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead. Father Jeffery Fasching will officiate.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newton.
Memorials may be given to the church in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
