Obituary: Ray H. Schroeder

Ray H. Schroeder, 69, died Friday, April 27, 2018, at his home in rural Newton.

He was born Sept. 28, 1948, in Goessel to George and Frieda (Schmidt) Schroeder. Ray owned and operated Schroeder Nursery for 40 years. He was a member of Alexanderwhol Mennonite Church.

Ray is survived by son, Tyler Schroeder; daughter, Alisha Baughman and husband Clayton, all of Newton; two grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Schroeder and wife Ann of Arkansas City, and Arlie Schroeder and wife Kay of rural Newton; sisters, Velma Hiebert and husband Merlin of rural Canton, and Jan Schmidt and husband Dennis of Goessel; and friend, Peggy Schilling of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Amber Schroeder.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at Alexanderwhol Mennonite Church, rural Goessel. Private family burial will take place. Friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., all at Alexanderwhol Mennonite Church.

Memorials may be made to the Ray Schroeder Memorial Fund at Citizens State Bank for beautification of Goessel and Newton communities, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel.
