NEWTON—Otis Dean Tatum, 66, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at his home in Newton.
He was born on June 24, 1955, in Nowata, Okla., the son of Jimmie Don and Twila (Anderson) Tatum. The family moved from Nowata to Newton when Dean was in grade school and graduated from Newton High School in 1973.
Dean married his high school sweetheart Vicky Lee Ott on Nov. 16, 1974, in Newton. He made several friends throughout his work career but was most notably known for being a baker at Druber’s Donut Shop for over 25 years.
Survivors include his wife Vicky of the home; two sons Toby Ray Tatum of Lenexa and Kelly Tatum of Golden, Colo.; his mother Twila Tatum of Wichita; sister Connie Hart of Wichita; and two grandsons, Parker James Tatum and Andrew Dean Tatum of Lenexa.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Don Tatum, and brother, J.D. Tatum, Jr.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 9 a.m. until service time.
Graveside services and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Byron-Amorita Cemetery, one mile west and then one and one-half miles north of Byron, Okla.
