Obituary: Michael Homer Schoeller

Michael Homer Schoeller, 74, passed away June 20, 2021, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. He was born May 10, 1947, to Fred and Lucy Vontrice (Clark) Schoeller, in Hays, Kansas.

Michael was a 1965 graduate from Stockton Rural High School, Stockton, Kansas. He served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged. In civilian life, Michael was an aircraft and heavy machinery mechanic. He was also a private pilot and enjoyed aviation.

On Oct. 11, 1974, he married Karla Jean Sheffer, in Stockton. They shared almost 47 years of marriage.

Michael is survived by his wife, Karla Schoeller of Halstead; children, Phillip Schoeller of Halstead, Valery Schoeller of Anchorage, Alaska, and Sarah Schoeller of Hutchinson; and his mother, Lucy Kennedy of Alton, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father.

Graveside service will be 12 p.m. (noon) Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
