Mary “Marty” Isaac, 79, of Newton started walking the golden streets of Heaven on Sept. 27, 2023.
Marty was born and raised in Dothan, West Virginia, a West Virginia girl living in a Kansas world. She was married in 1969 in Newton to Dr. Charles Isaac. She was a homemaker and devoted wife of 50-plus years. Marty and Charles lived in their lovely home that they treasured for almost their whole marriage. They welcomed many families and friends in their home, where Marty would have a meal prepared in minutes.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, sister and brother-in-law on many trips to the mountains.
Whether it be West Virginia, Colorado or Arkansas, Marty had a knack for meeting people quickly. As one friend put it, she had a way of connecting people. And on many occasions, her matchmaking skills led to beautiful marriages.
Marty loved to watch the TV drama “COPS.” Policemen and Firemen were some of her favorite friends.
She loved a good Branson show, tea parties, and handing out full-size candy bars to children on Halloween, although Christmas was her favorite holiday.
Marty volunteered with the hospital auxiliary and the humane society. Church was an absolute must on Sunday mornings.
Marty is survived by her daughters, Amy Scott (Dalton) of Newton, Carol Isaac (Carrie) of Pine Lake, Georgia, Susan Isaac of Kansas City, Missouri; and three grandsons, Rich, Greg and Kevin. Many special friends remain, and they know who they are.
Marty was the last of seven siblings: James, Bobby, Betty, Patricia, Margaret and Charles, four of which had moved west and close to Marty.
Marty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; daughter, Kathryn; and their son, Jim.
She passed away at Kidron Bethel Village.
A private family graveside was at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. The funeral service followed at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hillcrest Community Church and may be left with Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
