OBITUARY: Marsha Hobbs

Marsha Hobbs, 80, originally from Turon, died Aug. 2, 2023, at Paramount Community Living and Rehab, Newton. She was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Garden City, to George F. and G. Erlene (Bunyan) Mall.

Marsha graduated from Turon High School in 1960, and attended Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. On Nov. 19, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Hobbs.

Marsha’s greatest joys were spending time with family and playing games with friends. She attended countless grandkids’ events and enjoyed hosting weekend sleepovers with them at the farm. Marsha was an avid sports fan and loved to travel, especially if there was a casino on the itinerary. Her family cherishes their memories of laughing and spending time together around her lovingly cooked holiday meals. Marsha was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Marsha is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Gordon Hobbs, Newton; daughters, Sheli (Jim) DeVolder, Spring, Texas, Kim (Mike) Hall, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Melissa (Stephen) Dick, Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Matthew DeVolder, Spring, Texas, Jacob DeVolder, Nashville, Tenn., Nathaniel (Stephanie) Edwards, Albany, N.Y., Alex Dick, Omaha, Neb., and Allyson Dick, Omaha, Neb.; sisters, Glennis Leroux, Woodward, Okla., Dixie (BJ) Lockey, Cedar Creek, Mo., and Lynda (Terry) Leopold, Parrish, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant son, Rick Alan.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Turon Community Church. Friends may sign her book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Turon Community Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
