OBITUARY: Marion Harper

Marion Harper, 84, died at his home on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, in Newton.

Marion was born on July 31, 1934, in Newton to Everett and Pearl (Brooks) Harper.

Marion married Sue Leffingwell on Dec. 27, 1957, in Newton. They were married for 61 years prior to his death.

Marion was very mechanical and enjoyed working with tools. He could “rig up” about anything and make it work. He was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed using the Morse Code. Marion was retired from Kansas Gas and Electric Co., which he served for many years.

He is survived by his wife Sue; beloved best friend Cedar; children Kristy and Jeff Nattier, and Kelli and Brian Schulte; and grandchildren Sarah and Dustin (Kari) Nattier, Garrett, Mallory, Brianna and Jesse Schulte.

He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Pearl Harper; sister Janet Lingnau; and son Kurt Harper.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Following the service, a private family burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Marion will be carried to his final resting place in his 1950 Dodge Power Wagon. There will not be a public visitation.
