Marilyn C. Smith died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. She was 87 years old.
Family and friends visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Marilyn was born December 31, 1930, and married Bill T. Smith on Aug. 14, 1949, in Newton. They were married for 69 wonderful years. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bill T. Smith, who died Oct. 16, 2016.
Marilyn loved to travel when she was not chasing twin brothers born August 21, 1950. Bill worked as a conductor on the Santa Fe Railroad for 44 years, retiring Feb. 15, 1992. Marilyn was employed in customer service at Collins Rockwell for 15 years, retiring February 1, 1991.
A memorial has been established with Caring Hands Humane Society, and contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
