OBITUARY: Marilee Moody Eaton

Marilee Moody Eaton, 71, died peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 1, 2021, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

She was born on Oct. 7, 1950, in Antioch, Calif., to Gilman and Marijo Moody. She graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1970.

She met her husband and the love of her life, Francis Eaton, in 1976. Together they raised three amazing children—Kimberly, Jason and Sara.

Mary worked all her life as a caregiver at Friendly Acres in Newton. She was a skilled crocheter and cross stitcher. During her lifetime, she crocheted over 100 angel blankets for new babies. She also crocheted hundreds of blankets and shawls. All are works of art and cherished by the many friends and family members who received them.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by two daughters and one son, Kimberly (Steve) Harris of Nixa, Mo., Jason Eaton of Newton and Sara (Terry) Rodenberg of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Billey Ann Davis (Bill) of Olathe; and five grandsons, Bryce, Tyler and Noah Rodenberg, and James and Kyle Harris.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with a family graveside prayer to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
