OBITUARY: Margie Jo McDaniel

Margie Jo McDaniel of Hesston went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 4, 2021. She was born Aug. 14, 1954, in Coffeyville, the daughter of Don and Frankie (Wilson) Haines.

She was a 1972 graduate of Follett High School in Texas. She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Panhandle State University, Goodwell, Okla., in 1977.

On June 26, 1976, Margie married Mark McDaniel of Ulysses. Mark and Margie lived in Ulysses for 42 years, where Margie touched the lives of many students in her 33 years as an elementary teacher at Sullivan Elementary School. She was active at Patterson Avenue Church of God and Oasis Assembly of God while living in Ulysses. Mark and Margie moved to Hesston in 2018 and are members of Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church.

Margie is survived by her loving husband Mark; daughter, Amy (Joshua) Tolle; grandchildren, Kimberly, Candice and Jonathan (JJ), all of Hesston; father, Don Haines of Follett, Texas; brothers, Duane (Jody) Hodges of Hooker, Okla., and Rene (Pam) Haines of Hennessey, Okla.; sisters, Theresa Davis of El Reno, Okla., Donna Haines of Ulysses; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her mother, Frankie Haines; and brother-in-law, Brian Davis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church. Burial will follow at Hesston City Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston. Family will not be present. Memorials may be made to the church in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, P.O.
