Obituary: Leslie A. Walton

Leslie A. Walton, 83, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at his home.

He was born on Dec. 17, 1934, in Newton, the son of Aldess and Enola Russell Walton. Leslie was raised and attended schools in Newton. Shortly after graduating from Newton High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

For a short time, Leslie worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He loved old cars and attending countless swap meets. Leslie worked long hours creating and maintaining Walton Recreation Park, east of Newton.

Survivors include his two daughters, Terri Roseberry and husband Tim of Chester, VA., and Brenda Walton and husband Roy Workman of Newton; and four grandchildren Jordan Walton, Mikah Roseberry, Madalyn Roseberry, Isabel Gleason and Dalton Britton.

Leslie is preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services and interment will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

The casket will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
