Larry M. Moorman, age 71, went to be forever with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 7, 2021. Larry was born July 4, 1950 to Billie Lou (Hill) and August Moorman in Sumter, South Carolina. As Larry’s father served in the military, Larry had the opportunity to live in many areas in the country and settled in Kansas for most of his adult life.
He began his law enforcement career in McPherson County and continued his law enforcement career with Wichita Police Department and eventually was promoted to detective. Larry later joined Koch Industries as a security investigator and retired as Director of Corporate Security.
Although Larry’s professional career was important to him, his family came first. He met the love of his life, Jean, and they were married Dec. 28, 1985. He became a loving husband and a brave father of two pre-teens, Robin and Brian.
Larry’s dedication to his family brought him to northeast Florida in 2015 following retirement so he and Jeannie could be close to their children and the new loves of their lives, their grandchildren Nathan Li, Christopher Li, and Cooper Moorman.
Larry enjoyed golfing, target shooting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Larry was a quiet person who loved to listen, laugh, and attend his grandsons’ many activities.
Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jeannie Moorman and their daughter, Robin Moorman Li (William), son Brian Moorman (Amber), sister Becky Anders (Dale), niece Kathy Olszewski and many friends.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 at Sedgwick Christian Church with Pastor Ralph Clark officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick.
