Kevin Mathew Liljestrom, 60, formerly of Hutchinson, and Halstead, Kansas, passed away on May 31, 2021, at The Legacy on 10th Ave in Topeka. He was born Dec. 22, 1960, in Duluth Minnesota to Paul William Liljestrom and Susan Jane (Gulder) Liljestrom.
He is survived by ex-wives Birgit Liljestrom, (Germany) and Luann Liljestrom, and four children, Lois, Ricky, Kevin JR, and Rebecca, all of Lawrence. One sister Kay Larson, Utah, nieces and nephews, and an aunt, Gail Johnston, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul, and Susan Liljestrom and father-in-law, Albert J. Miller, whose guidance, prayers and unconditional love led him to a belief in Christ the last weeks of his life.
Kevin served in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged in the early 80s. He was a mechanic as well as an excellent carpenter and an avid storyteller. A favorite story told was about his grandmother and the bear. His ability to spin a creative tale was unrivaled.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services are scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 15, 2021, at Word of Life Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson.
