Keith A. Powers, 50, entered the gates of heaven on Jan. 11, 2021, after an unexpected death with heart disease even after a successful heart surgery in June 2020.
He was born March 2, 1970, in Newton to Lyle A. Powers Jr. and Carolyn Powers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle A. Powers Jr., and nephew, Kyle Powers.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Powers of Newton; two sons, Deyreck Dean of Rockwell, Texas, and DJ of Wichita; sisters, Vandi Barnhart (Greg) of Denton, Texas, and Shannon Gonzales (Zac) of Wichita; and brothers, Lyle III (Tammie), Matt, Shane (Michelle) and Sean (Mindy), all of Wichita. He has eight nieces and six nephews. His close friends, Val, Allie and Tommie also survive.
He was so proud of his sons and all of his nieces and nephews.
Keith loved fishing or anything outdoors, like playing with his sons, nieces and nephews.
He was very good with his hands and could fix anything. He spent most of his life working on hydraulics. He was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan. His faith in God and his family was very important to him.
Even at the end, when he was struggling with his health, he always had a smile, a joke and was helping others. He knew no strangers, a friend to everyone he met.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Movement Church, 200 S. Saint Claire, Wichita, KS, 67213.
