Jean Kasper, 78, died on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Via Christi-St. Francis of Wichita.
Jean was born on March 31, 1938, in Sedgwick to Claude and Linda (Arf) Smith.
Jean was a strong, feisty and independent woman. She played and loved classical music and was an avid gardener. She was devoted to her faith and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children: Mark and Lynette Kasper, Timothy Kasper, and Nicholas and Terryl Kasper; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Linda Smith; two sisters, and her daughter, Vickie Kasper.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Zion Lutheran Church of Newton. A committal will occur following the service at Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Zion Lutheran Church of Newton.
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements.
