James “Jim” Lambert Gervais, 72, died on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, in Hesston.
Jim was born on Jan. 21, 1944, to Edward and Margaret (Ahrens) Gervais in Milwaukee, Wis.
Jim was a retired cement worker with Pre Stress Construction Co. He also had worked as a crane operator and night watchman with Hesston Corp. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He operated Jim’s Farmers Market in Wichita for many years. Jim had a keen sense of humor and was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In his final years, he became a Christian and devoted his life to Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Verna Gervais; children, Fawn Florez, Irene Knauf and Jeannie Gervais; brothers, Larry Gervais and Johnny Bond; sisters, Anne Bryant, Margaret Jarrett and Mary Pratt; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and “adopted” children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret Gervais; brother, Frank Gervais; and stepdaughter, Deborah Ann Honaker.
A public gathering was on Friday, Dec. 16, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
A memorial has been established for Alune United Methodist Church in Albany, Kan.
