SEDGWICK—Irene Elizabeth Stone, 87, died Friday, April 22, 2022 at NMC Health, Newton.
She was born April 13, 1935 at Newton, Kansas to Thomas D. and Ida B. (Lefert) Dickerson.
She was a graduate of Newton High School and Wichita Business College. She was a Sedgwick resident since 1974, residing formerly in Wichita and Denver. Along with being a homemaker, she worked as a librarian at the Lillian Tear Library, Sedgwick.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Sacred Heart Altar Society.
She loved to garden, quilt, embroider and do online genealogy. She was also a frequent bingo player at the Sedgwick Senior Center.
On May 29, 1965 she married Clyde Omar Stone at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sedgwick. He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 2000.
She is survived by sons: Thomas (Esther) Stone, Newton; and Kenneth Stone, Sedgwick; daughter: Maryann (Bart) Base, Halstead; grandchildren: Cole and Christina Base and Matthew Stone.
She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Dickerson.
Viewing will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
The recitation of the Rosary will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday April 27, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead; the Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newton.
Memorials may be given to the Sacred Heart Caring Hearts Fund or Ronald McDonald House in care of Kaufman Funeral Home.
