OBITUARY: Gary Randall Kingsley

Gary Randall Kingsley was born Aug. 29, 1943, and died Aug. 30, 2021.

He was born in Spearman, Texas, to Richard and Evelyn Kingsley, graduated from Spearman High School in 1961 and attended Lubbock Christian College and York College where he met Leann (Hanke), and they were married on Feb. 6, 1964, in York, Neb. They lived in York, where Gary worked at Standard Brands and had their first child in 1965.  Gary took a job with Hesston Corp. as a technical illustrator in 1965, and they moved to Newton. Gary worked at Hesston Corp (now AGCO) and eventually became the supervisor of the Graphic Design Department until he retired in February 2011. Gary eventually graduated from Bethel College in 1983.

Gary loved playing golf (he had the nickname of Bear on the Hesston Golf course), wheeling and dealing with his Hesston Belt Buckle business, traveling to flea markets to sell his wares, and he loved old cars, especially early Ford Mustangs. In his later years, he loved watching golf and game shows on TV, and flipping channels. He spent lots of time with his church family, his family and friends having game nights and meeting at Norm’s to just hang with his pals.

Gary had a deep relationship with God. He was a faithful member of the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ, having served as a deacon in the past, leading singing, teaching Bible classes and holding up the Bass line while singing at church.

Gary loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Leann; brothers Larry (Mary) Kingsley of Gainsville Texas, and Danny Kingsley of Lubbock Texas; brother-in-law Richard (Karen) Hanke of Choctaw, Okla.; children: Geoff (Rhonda) Kingsley of Edmond, Okla., Deborah Kingsley of Newton and Brian (Kelly) Kingsley of Olpe; grandchildren AJ (Latiffany) Kingsley of Kansas City, Mo. (great-granddaughters: Ayanna and Cambria), Jeanna Watson-Tolbert (great grandkids, McKaelah, Kembran and Mellanie), Maryn (Logan) Thompson of Bartlett, Tenn. (great-granddaughter Joanna), Caleb (Abbie) Kingsley of Maumelle Ark., Asa Kingsley and fiancée Addie of Edmond, Okla., Haley Kingsley and fiancée Jacob of Topeka, Maycee Kingsley of Emporia, Mia Kingsley of Olpe; and numerous nieces, nephews, church family members and his three cats who made him laugh every day.

Preceding him in death are his parents, in-laws, Harry and Ena Hanke, sister Patricia Bassett and grandson Preston Tolbert.

A memorial service was at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11,,, at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ, 101 Columbus Ave., in Newton.
