Frida Henrietta Cline, 95, of Newton, formerly of Gothenburg, Neb., died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Asbury Park in Newton. ?
Frida was born Oct. 11, 1920, the sixth of eight children of Adolph and Henny Rickertsen of rural Lexington, Neb. She attended country school and graduated from Lexington High School in 1938.? Frida worked in a bank until her marriage on April 18, 1942, to Billy Cline. He preceded her in death in 1990. They spent their first year of marriage in various U.S. Army bases before Billy was shipped overseas in World War II. Following the war, the family returned to Nebraska where Billy was a life-long farmer in the Gothenburg area.
In addition to being a farm wife and mother of four, Frida was active in Banner Methodist Church, in leading 4-H Clubs and in the VFW Auxiliary. She was employed at McDonalds Clothing store as a sales clerk and later at Simon Chevrolet Motor Co. as a bookkeeper. She then provided child care in her home and was especially proud of those children as they grew up. After residing in Dawson County all her life, in December 2010, she moved to Newton to be nearer to family. Her additional interests included Nebraska wildflowers, yard work, sewing, quilting, crocheting and collecting angels.
?Survivors in the Newton area are her daughter Vicki (Robert) Bergman and their three children: daughter Cathlina; ?son Greg (Kate) and sons Joshua and Dominic;?son Daniel (Laura)and their children JonJay, David, Molly, May, and Lily.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Neb., with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m.
Services will be at 10 a.m. March 7 at Banner United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janie Freeman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Peckham Cemetery, Gothenburg.
