She was born May 26, 1924, in Newton, the daughter of David and Elizabeth (Gerbrandt) Dick.
Ethel graduated from Buhler High School in 1932. She then attended Bethel College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She married Rev. She had a love of music, especially classical music. Ethel had a large collection of classical music she enjoyed listening to. She was a skilled piano player and freely shared her gift through the years, most recently at Kidron Bethel as residents gathered for dinner. Ethel also had the gift of voice and sang at friends’ and families’ weddings and events though the years.
Cats held a special place in Ethel’s heart, and she always had pet cats around to care for and love. She was especially fond of her Siamese cats. As she moved into Kidron Bethel apartments and eventually healthcare, she always perked up when she was presented with a cat calendar or photos.
