Elsie Fontelle (Clark) Cook, 97, died Mother’s Day on Sunday May, 8, 2016, at St. Luke Living Center in Marion. She was born May 31, 1918, in Wichita to Earl and Ociola (Gibbler) Clark. She married Vance Eldon Cook on April 19, 1943. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1999. Elsie loved to read books and looked forward to her walks around her neighborhood in Florence. She also enjoyed traveling and watching TV.
Elsie is survived by her sons Kenneth and his wife Deanna of Newton, and Robert and his wife Nannetta of Junction City; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Earl Clark Cook, a granddaughter Annette Lynn Cook and a brother Edmund Clark.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. A private graveside service will be at Highland Cemetery in Ashland, where she will be buried next to her husband Vance.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
