OBITUARY: Edwin Bloomendahl

Edwin Blomendahl, 54, born April 22, 1969, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on Nov. 22, 2023, in Newton from Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). On April 27, 1991, Ed was united in marriage to Ronda Burney in Newton. Together, they shared 31 happy years together.

Ed received his master of science in physical therapy from the University of Kansas Medical Center on May 22, 2004. His last dedicated work service was for Silverado Senior Living Facility in California.

While growing up, Ed was a faithful and active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Newton, and as an adult, he was an active member of Saddleback Church. Ed’s faithfulness in serving at both churches was a testimony of a faithful man and God’s saving grace.

Ed was loved by everyone who met him. His wit and caring spirit were what everyone was drawn to. His house had an “open door” policy to all.

Ed loved Jesus, and it showed through his life. His kids adore him, and he has left them a beautiful example of a man who lived his faith.

Ronda and Ed’s love story was real. He loved her with all his heart, and this love was faithful to his last breath. God knows, their love will continue.

Forever faithful to “Rock Chalk Jayhawk!” Another passion he had was everything Jeep! Especially muddin’! One last thing: the man could bake! Ed could make a pie with meringue you would die for, and his peanut butter cookies would win a first-place blue ribbon!

Ed is survived by his wife, Ronda; his kids, Morgan Blomendahl and Brett Blomendahl (wife Taylor), Emily Delgado (husband Andy); mother, Janice Blomendahl; and sister, Nicole Bistline; grandchildren, Brewer, Truett and baby Neriah due any day, along with numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Blomendahl.

Prayers for Ronda and Ed’s family in the coming days and years will be appreciated.
