HALSTEAD—Dustin Dean Altum, 34, died Sunday May 9, 2021, at Newton Medical Center, following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 6, 1986, in Newton to Wesley D. and Ellen M. (Schuman) Altum.
Dustin was employed in the security industry, where he could use his electrical and wiring skills; he was continually working to improve and become more efficient.
He was known for his jokes and ability to make people laugh. He enjoyed relaxing with a good action movie or police and military shows. Paintball, poker and video games were also pastimes that was enjoyed. He was a proud Kansas City Chiefs fan and could be found cheering them to victories on Sunday afternoons.
Dustin’s greatest joy was being a father, son, brother and friend. He greatly looked forward to time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Alex Altum; fiancé, Jordan Perkins; step sons, James Pease and Colby Dix; brother, Robert Altum; sister, Mandy Craig; and his parents, Wesley and Ellen Altum. He is also survived by his nieces, Katelyn Stahly-Zinn and Erin Zinn; and his nephews, Jett Altum, Jeffrey Craig, and Preston Craig. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
A celebration of Dustin’s life will be Friday, May 21, at the Volunteer Hall at the Harvey County East Lake, with The Reverend Donna Voteau presiding.
