Obituary: Dorothy L. Hite

Dorothy L. Hite, 84, of Newton joined the angels in heaven on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Newton Presbyterian Manor.OBIT-Hite
She was born on May 17, 1931, in Whitewater, Mo., the daughter of Carl R. and Ruby E. Bowling West.
She married Wilbur Hite on April 12, 1948, in Pocohantas, Ark. They later moved to Newton. He died in 1981.
Dorothy had worked at the Hesston Corp. and Anderson Liquor Store. She also was a volunteer at the Salvation Army. She enjoyed working in her garden.
Survivors include her daughter Vicky Zinn of Goessel; three grandchildren, Chris Zinn of Newton,? Julie Zinn of Wichita and Harlan Hite of California; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Rylie, Mason and Erin; brothers, Jim West and wife Opal of Farmington, Mo., and Howard West and wife Angie of Farmington, Mo.; and sister Pauline Little of Jefferson City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wilbur; son Michael Hite Sr.; grandson Michael Hite Jr.; son-in-law Steve Zinn; and sister Pat Moore.
Memorial graveside services and inurnment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory near Newton.
There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.
