OBITUARY: Daniel Koehn

Daniel Koehn, 89, died March 16, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. He was born February 17, 1932 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Henry B and Edith (Smith) Koehn.

Daniel came to the United States in January 1954 from Mexico moving to Kansas.

On September 9, 1956 he married Carol Mae Koehn at Burns, Kansas. They were later divorced and she preceded him in death in December of 2006. He later married Dorothy June Spangler in October 24, 1986 in Hutchinson, Kansas and she survives of the home.

Daniel attended the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. During his working years he worked for the Buhler and Inman Flour Mills and was a welder for the former Hesston Corporation. Daniel was an accomplished wood worker and ran Koehn Woodcraft for many years. He especially enjoyed working with oak creating many pieces of furniture and shelving through the years.

He could often be found out in nature working in his garden or caring for the many pigeons he enjoyed raising.

Daniel is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home; two sons: Elton D. Koehn and Tony D. Koehn; 4 daughters: Danella and Jackie Schmidt; Dolores and Brad Warnica; Jolene and Daniel Irsik and Vanessa Gilbert; one sister: Susie Parra and 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Carol, and 9 brothers and 5 sisters.

A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 19, 2021 and Zion Mennonite Church of God in Christ Rural Inman, Kansas with presiding minister Lowell Koehn and Dale Koehn. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home 215 North Main Newton, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Buhler East Cemetery, Buhler, Kansas.
