OBITUARY: Damon Schroeder

Damon Schroeder, 56, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at Susan B. Anthony Hospital in El Dorado, Kansas, after a short illness. He was born at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, to Gail and Wilma Schroeder. He was a lifelong resident of Sedgwick, Kansas, where he attended school and was a graduate of Valley Center High School. Damon was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Center. He was an honorary member of the Legion Riders Post 268 in Sedgwick. He enjoyed his extensive collection of DVRs, DVDs, camping with his friends and family, and eating out after church services with his special friend, Debra.

He is survived by his parents, Gail and Wilma; his uncle, Earl Schroeder; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and other family and friends.

Damon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Murrel and Eileen Weir; paternal grandparents, Menno and Louise Schroeder; his sister, Lori Porte; and aunt, Judy Schroeder (Earl’s wife).

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church 320 N. Sheridan, Valley Center, Kansas (date and time to be determined).

Memorials may be designated in his memory to Caring Hands Humane Society, 1400 SE Third, Newton, KS, 67114.
