Obituary: ‘Coke’ Smith

“Coke” Smith, 88, of Newton, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

Wilma Colleen was born on Feb. 5, 1928, in Burrton, the daughter of Dell and Mabel Kasenberg Roberts. She was raised in the Mount Hope area, graduating from Mount Hope High School.

She married Ralph M. Smith Jr. on March 8, 1951, at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. After Ralph was discharged from the service, they returned to Newton in 1953.

For many years, they owned and operated R M’s Auto Electric Shop in Newton.

“Coke” is survived by her husband, Ralph of Newton; two sons, Mickey Smith of Mesa, Ariz., and Mitchell Smith of Wichita; three grandchildren, Josh Smith, Carrie Smith and Daniel Smith; and five great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.
Private inurnment services will be at a later date at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Fort Dodge.
