Obituary: Charmaine Foraker

Charmaine Ida May Foraker, age 89, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 20, 1932, to Florence (Blubaugh) and Everett Owens and raised on the farm north of Mt. Hope. She graduated from Mount Hope High School and also Fort Hays State University, where she received degrees in home economics and teaching.

On a hot day of July 10, 1955, she married Olin Ted Foraker, Jr., at Bethany Baptist Church in rural Sedgwick, Kansas. She was a resident of Waverly, Lakin, Almena, Sylvan Grove, Kinsley and resided in Hutchinson since 1978. She taught school in her early years and supported her husband in his school positions as a business teacher in Lakin and Superintendent of Schools in Almena, Sylvan Grove and Kinsley. While residing in Hutchinson, she worked for Sears photography studio.

Charmaine is preceded in death by her husband, Olin ‘Ted’ Foraker in 2007; daughter, Avone Marie Arnold; and parents, Florence and Everett Owens. She was also preceded in death by sister Gaylene (Ollie) Isom and brother Charles (Joann) Owens.

She is survived by her son, Kreg Foraker of rural Burrton; son, Harlan Foraker and wife Karen of rural Burrton; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home in Hutchinson, Kansas. Services are planned for 1 p.m. Aug. 27 at Park Place Christian Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. Services will be presented on Facebook. Graveside service to follow at Star Cemetery in rural Burrton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Park Place Youth Fund in care of Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home.
