Obituary: Bonnie Jean Palmer

Bonnie Jean Palmer, 92, ended her earthly journey for her eternal heavenly home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the Newton Presbyterian Manor Claassen Neighborhood.

She was born on Nov. 9, 1923, to George and Hallie (Crobarger) Haun at her parent?s country home in rural Sedgwick County. Bonnie graduated from East High School in Wichita in 1941. She attended State University for one year. Bonnie married William Charles Palmer on June 28, 1942, at the chapel at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio. They were married 58 years prior to Bill?s journey home on March 29, 2001. She was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Newton. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her loving family and many friends, and was the most wonderful mother ever.

She is survived by sons Charles Edward Palmer and his wife Mary of Saginaw, Texas, and Philip and his wife Lois of North Newton; daughters Phyllis Mary Graber and her husband Duane of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and Carolyn Jean Palmer of Newton; grandchildren Barry Palmer, Cherry Sandeen, Darcy Graber and Kendall Graber; and five great-grandchildren Alexander and Nicholas Sandeen, Hallie Sandeen, Ethan Graber and Levi Graber. She also is survived by one niece, one nephew, a host of in-laws and many friends who she cared about deeply.

Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Newton with the Rev. Nicholas Voelker celebrant. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6 p.m., Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends following the Rosary. Burial will be in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials are suggested to the Newton Presbyterian Manor Employee Christmas Fund or Mt. Pleasant Community School Music Boosters in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
