OBITUARY: Billie Krehbiel

HALSTEAD—Billie Marie Krehbiel, 90, died Saturday, July 3, 2021 at NMC Health, Newton.

She was born Dec. 11, 1930 at Curranville, Kansas to William Richard and Hazel Dorothea (Spoonhour) Luke.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Newton.

A Halstead resident since 1973, she was passionate about working with children.

In addition to being a mother and homemaker, she was a Halstead High School Secretary, taught piano in her home, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, and release time for Newton schools. She also filmed Halstead High School football games for her husband, Bill Krehbiel.

On Nov. 23, 1948 she married Bill J. Krehbiel at Moundridge; he preceded

her in death, July 23, 2012.

She is survived by sons: Dane (Janet) Krehbiel, Lampe, Missouri; Philip (Pamela) Krehbiel, Manistique, Wisconsin; daughters: Patricia Busenitz, Whitewater; Susan Krehbiel, Halstead; brothers: Richard Luke, Wichita; and David Luke, Mexico, Missouri; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Herbert Busenitz; and sisters-in-law, Barbara and Theresa Luke.

Viewing will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 30 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31 at Liberty Baptist Church, Newton with Pastor Stephen Julius officiating.

Burial will follow at Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to Majesty Music in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
