OBITUARY: Betty J. Janzen

WICHITA—Betty J. Janzen, 98, of Louisville, Ky., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, in Louisville, Ky.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Interment will be in the Whitewater Cemetery in Whitewater.

Friends may call from 1-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends between 7-8 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1920, in Newton, the daughter of Hazel Elizabeth (Mellor) and Theodore Roth, Sr.

Betty married Lawrence Janzen on July 5, 1941. They lived in Whitewater for several years, until moving to Wichita in the early 1960s, where she was a property manager of Builder, Inc. Betty also enjoyed “flipping houses.” Larry died Nov. 15, 1984.

While living in Wichita, she was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. Betty moved from Wichita to Louisville, Ky., to be closer to her son, four years ago.

Survivors include her son, Bill Janzen and his wife, Sharon; granddaughter, Lee Mitchell and great-grandchildren, Asher Mitchell and Reese Mitchell all of Louisville, Ky.; along with her brother, Theodore E. Roth, of Whitewater.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brothers, Bill Roth, Bob Roth, Darryl “Fritz” Roth and Paul “Bud” Roth.

A memorial has been established with Hospice of Louisville. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Kan., 67114.
