OBITUARY: Bettina Knight

Bettina (Tina) Lee Knight died on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021. She was originally from Sedgwick, where she attended grade school and high school. She was born on Kansas Day, Jan. 29, 1945.

She loved hiking and exploring, especially in Colorado where she worked at a summer camp in her youth. Tina also loved animals and riding horses with her dad, Bruce L. Behymer, who worked at that same summer camp in his younger days. She was a devoted Christian, daughter and mother. Her sweet demeanor made a positive impact on everyone around her.

Tina was an incredibly compassionate person. She often prepared meals for shut-ins, provided home health care, worked in a retirement community, and took care of her mom, Betty, and stepfather, Dale Silcott, in their later years. She never complained and knew this was her calling. Her younger brother, Bruce B., recalls Tina’s birthday and anniversary cards. Every family member received one with a small hand-written note from Tina on whatever occasion was being celebrated. It was something everyone looked forward to receiving. Her kindness and loving heart will be remembered by all of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce L. Behymer, and stepmother, Alberta Behymer, mother, Betty Silcott, and stepfather, Dale Silcott, aunt, Norma Behymer, uncle, Keith Behymer, and cousin, Stephen Behymer.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Knight, son, Paul Knight, and daughter Kerry Cooper, brother, Gary Vinson, sister, Susan Vinson and brother Bruce B. Behymer, as well as cousins Doug Behymer, Dave Behymer, Brian Behymer and Celeste Duggan (who was like a sister to her), six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of plants and flowers, the family has requested everyone remembers Tina for the kind, sweet and loving person that she was.
