OBITUARY: Arlen Duane Regier

Arlen Duane Regier, 85, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.

He was born April 5, 1937, in Newton to Edward and Agnes (Epp) Regier. At age 7 or 8, he chose to follow Jesus as his Savior and later was baptized at Emmaus Mennonite Church in the spring of 1953. He attended Berean Academy for high school. He graduated from Emporia State University in 1966 with a degree in education and industrial arts.

On June 2, 1967, he married Clara Lee Taylor, and they loved each other for over 55 years. They had three children, Shara, Melanie and Rebecca, and nine grandkids, whom he loved to work on projects with and tell stories to.

He worked at Prairie View for 35 years where he was known for his cabinet work and painting. He’s been an active member of Koerner Heights since 1974, where he served numerous roles including elder, teacher and Bible study leader. Arlen was a Master Gardener, Big Brother and Big Sister volunteer, Kiwanis member, coordinator for Weekday Bible School and much more.

Arlen is survived by his wife, Clara Regier of Hesston; his three daughters: Shara (Michael) Schroeder of Denver, Melanie (John) Lamprill of Strathalbyn, (South) Australia, and Rebecca (Robert) Adamson of Newton; his sister, Joyce (Robert) Keys of Topeka; his brother, Daryl (Sharon) Regier of Whitewater; and nine grandchildren, Joshua (Jaclyn), Jessica Schroeder, Jake, Joel, Jayden, Destiny Lamprill, Andrew, Emily, Hannah Adamson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Agnes (Epp) Regier.

Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Koerner Heights Church, Newton. Private inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
