Justina P. Smith 89, died on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at Lakepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wichita.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1925, in Henderson, Neb., to Jacob C. and Anna (Ott) Peters. On Sept. 5, 1953, she married Dale W. Smith in York, Neb., and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2012.
Smith was a teacher for nearly two decades and also served the Lord as a minister?s wife, serving churches with her husband in Kansas, Nebraska and Ohio. She loved her family and looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Colleen A. Smith of Wichita, Debra (Harley) Davis of Tulsa, Okla., Candace (Scott) Day of Augusta, Angela Smith of Wichita and Rebecca Smith of Wichita; sister-in-law, Jeanette Peters of Hydro, Okla.; brother-in-law Martin (Barbara) Smith of Wichita; sister-in-law, Marylyn Haley of Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Henry, Leonard and Abraham, and sisters, Kathryn Couch and Maria Nunnenkamp.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, at Grace Hill Mennonite Church in rural Newton with pastors Randy Smith and Tom and Lois Harder presiding.
Graveside committal service will be at 10 a.m. prior to memorial at Grace Hill Mennonite Cemetery.
The casket will be open at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the church foyer. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 15, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
