When you shoot depends on where you live

Fireworks sale and discharge dates run the gamut in Harvey County, from one day to eight.

Here’s a breakdown of sale and discharge dates based on city ordinances and information put out by the cities themselves.


Residents will soon see an eight-day stretch in Newton where they can purchase and discharge fireworks.

The city expanded its ordinance to allow the sale and use of fireworks this year.

Starting Monday, June 27, the purchase and shooting of fireworks will be permitted in the city limits from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

On July 1 through 4, fireworks can be shot from 7 a.m. to midnight. Fireworks can be bought on July 4 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The city issued 11 permits for fireworks stands this year:

  • Ka-Boomers – 105 Manchester
  • Wholesale Fireworks – 1701 S. Kansas Ave,
  • Wholesale Fireworks – 601 SE 36th Street
  • Wholesale Fireworks – 200 N. Meridian
  • Wholesale Fireworks – 1515 E. 1st Street
  • Bellino Fireworks – 1223 Washington Road
  • Bellino Fireworks – 1216 N. Main
  • Friends of Harvey County ERT – 1601 W. 1st Street
  • T & M Fireworks – 1601 S. Anderson
  • TNM Fireworks – 401 N. Meridian
  • Big Show Fireworks – 1300 S. Kansas Avenue


Hesston will allow fireworks to be discharged for four days, from Friday, July 1, to Monday, July 4.

Fireworks can be shot off from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 1 through 3 and from 8 a.m. to midnight on July 4.

According to the city office, there were no fireworks stand permits applied for in the city this year.


Halstead will allow the discharge of fireworks on Saturday, July 2, through Monday, July 4, from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. The Halstead Lions Club will operate a stand in the 200 Block of Main Street in Halstead.

North Newton

Fireworks will be allowed Monday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to midnight. The city granted an exception to Kidron Bethel Village to put on a fireworks display only for residents earlier in the week.


Fireworks are legal to be sold and shot from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, June 28 to 30; 10 a.m. to midnight on Friday through Sunday, July 1 to 3; and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, July 4. Kapow Fireworks will operate a stand in the 400 Block of Burrton Avenue.


Firework selling and detonation dates and times in Sedgwick are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, June 30, to Sunday, July 3, and on Monday, July 4, from 10 a.m. until midnight.

There will be two stands in Sedgwick—one run by the Sedgwick Rec Commission at 304 N. Madison, and one from Atwill Fireworks, 620 Austin Lane.


The City of Bentley allows the discharge of fireworks from 9 a.m. to midnight, Friday, July 1, to Monday, July 4.
